The second edition of the "Prize for Best Dissertation in Structures", awarded by FCT-UNL’s Structures Section of the Civil Engineering Department, took place last March 11, 2015. The prize was sponsored by CSI Portugal, represented by Eng. Maria João Sword, the IPQ (Portuguese Institute for Quality) , represented by Eng. Maria João Wenceslas , Hilti Portugal and also by Pearson Spain & Portugal. FCT-UNL was also represented at the highest level, by its Dean, Professor Fernando Santana. The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the finalists’ secondary schools, namely the teachers Albertina Trabulo and Margarida Amorin, Director and Deputy Director of D. João V Secondary School from Damaia and teacher Teresa Esteves, Deputy Director of Almada’s Secondary School Fernão Mendes Pinto.
The three finalists of the competition were: André Filipe Rodrigues Taveira, Rúben Paulos Ribeiro do Rosário e Vasco Miguel Serrano Bernardo who won the prize with the dissertation" Nonlinear analysis of the dynamic behavior of prefabricated pedestrian walkways ".
The "Prize for Best Dissertation in Structures" aims to encourage the quality of the Master dissertations in structures presented in FCT-UNL’s Civil Engineering Department and to promote its public recognition.
