Last 23 February, took place in Brussels the awards ceremony of the “IUMRS Global Leadership and Service Award” associated to Nanotechnology and Advanced Materials areas, sponsored by the Faculty of Science and Technology of the New University of Lisbon. The winners were Professors M. Roco (NSF-USA); C. Tokamanis (European Commission); P. Siffert (E-MRS). The ceremony was attended by Commissioner Carlos Moedas, the European Commission's Director General Clara de la Torre, the Counselor of the European Commission, Graça Carvalho, the Members of the European Parliament Carlos Zorrinho and José Inácio, the Dean of FCT/UNL Fernando Santana, the President of the FCT/UNL's Materials Science Department Rodrigo Martins, and counted also with the presence of more than 65 Science area personalities coming from Europe and from the United States. In the event, the European Commissioner also greeted the latest "European Research Grant" of our Faculty, Dr. Luis Pereira.
