The doctoral students Ines Pataco, Karliana Oliveira and Mara Mourinho, who are currently developing research in the Department of Earth Sciences, FCT / UNL laboratories were invited to present their research projects on biofortification of cereals before investigators COST Action TD 1304.
Budapest - Hungary , between 24 and 26 March , before researchers representing research centers of 24 countries, these students, whose doctoral monographs are being targeted by Professors Fernando Cebola Lidon, Fernando Henrique Reboredo and Maria Fernanda Person presented, followed by discussion, their research projects concerning biofortification of bread and durum wheat in iron and zinc, and selenium in rice. With this research aims to the development of food products (flour for bakery, pasta and baby food) with preventing health properties for adults and children. At the meeting were representatives of international companies that showed interest in participating in these projects, being further interested in participating in these research projects and aiming a subsequent marketing of the products. Also some members of the Management Board of the COST Action TD1304 showed interest in the joint development of some activities in sectors with high technological input.
