2014 has been proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly as the International Year of Crystallography (IYCr2014).
Worldwide celebrations of Crystallography are already taking place and in order to promote a better understanding of its role in our lives and our future, a series of Conferences will be taking place at our Campus, from April to December 2014 (http://xtal.dq.fct.unl.pt/iycr2014). Colleagues from around the world are being invited to give lectures, to visit and interact with our staff and students. We planned it as a highly interdisciplinary initiative that involves researchers from the fields of biochemistry, material sciences and mathematics.
