Professor of Physics at the University of Minnesota, Kakalios is primarily known to the public as an author disclosure. Among these stands out "The physics ofsuperheroes" (The physics of superheroes, 2006, not yet published in Portugal). The book stood out for the way it uses physics to "investigate" the plausibility of thesuperpowers of the most popular superheroes of BD, and from there sometimes reaches surprising conclusions, always within the scientific rigor but with much humor.
This unique approach was born in 1985 in a seminar at the University of Minnesota, through which Kakalios sought to encourage physics students to think and to reasonin a different way from the conventional. This idea gave rise to the book, which however had a second enlarged edition, as well as the various lectures that has deliveredsome of the most important global audiences.
