PhD Opportunity in Nanotechnology and Nanophysics

We are looking for dynamic and motivated students with Master's level training in engineering or physics,
to develop PhD projects in the field of Nanotechnology and Nanophysics. The subjects offered cover
fundamental and applied areas with special emphasis on dynamic processes and clean energy.
Applicants must meet the requirements to enroll in the PhD Program Scholarship Foundation for Science
and Technology and also in the PhD program in Engineering Physics Department, Faculty of Science and
Technology, Univ. Nova Lisbon.

Some of the topics to be proposed may involve other co-advisors.
The applicant institution is the Faculty of Science and Technology, New University of Lisbon, with
activity at Campus da Caparica, in the laboratory of the Group of the Nanotechnology and Nano-Scale
Science (GNCN), and will in collaboration with the Institute of Science and Engineering of Materials and
Surfaces (ICEMS).The PhD will start in 2012 and should be completed in 2015 or 2016 maximum.
The doctoral program includes an academic part and three years of experimental work and theoretical
and experimental. Follow-up to the writing and presentation of doctoral thesis. In some cases it may be
provided a short stay abroad. The newly doctorates will be recommended for international institutions in
these areas of science and technology.
