Ivan Santos, researcher at NOVA FCT's CENIMAT|i3N, received the First Honourable Mention from the Ordem dos Engenheiros (Order of Engineers), during the World Materials Day 2023 ceremony.
The distinguished thesis, titled "Light-Management in Crystalline Silicon Solar Cells with Photonic Nanocoatings," is the outcome of Ivan Santos' research conducted during the completion of his Master's Degree in Materials Engineering. Manuel J. Mendes supervised the thesis, with co-supervision by Ana Mouquinho, both from the Department of Materials Science.
The award acknowledges the significance of the research on the utilization of photonic nanostructured coatings and their potential application in more sustainable, cost-effective, and efficient energy solutions.
The ceremony, organized by the Portuguese Materials Society in collaboration with the Order of Engineers, took place on November 8th in Aveiro.
