The teaching staff of NOVA School of Science and Technology | FCT NOVA has been reinforced with the celebration of career progression contracts with five professors and the hiring of five new professors, in a ceremony that took place on 16 February. Two professors were promoted to the category of full professors, three became associate professors and five became assistant professors.
Referring to the lecturers who have now signed contracts in higher categories, the Dean of FCT NOVA, José Júlio Alferes, emphasized that "it is the full professors and then the associate professors who can structure the scientific and pedagogical policy of the house, and if they have previously given value to the house, they will certainly offer value in these new roles also".
The School Dean also welcomed the new lecturers and highlighted that he hopes "they can make a career in teaching and research here and that they can develop themselves here and develop this Faculty".
The Department of Computer Science has now two more full professors, João Alexandre Carvalho Pinheiro Leite e Nuno Manuel Ribeiro Preguiça, one associate professor, João Carlos Antunes Leitão, and one assistant professor, André Francisco Martins Lamúrias. The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering is reinforced with two more assistant professors, Moisés Gonçalves de Brito e Pedro Emanuel Botelho Espadinha da Cruz. The Department of Conservation and Restoration have now one more assistant professor, Élia Catarina Tavares Costa Roldão. The Departement of Materials Science have now also one more assistant professor, Daniela da Silva Nunes Gomes, and the Department of Life Sciences has two more associate professors, Maria Alexandra Nuncio de Carvalho Ramos Fernandes e Paula Alexandra Quintela Videira.
