On March 17th was celebrated at NOVA School of Science and Technology, a contract signing session, the third since the beginning of February, which included for the first time the contracting of researchers. In total, 14 contracts were signed with full professor, associate professors, assistant professors and assistant researchers.
The Dean of FCT NOVA, José Júlio Alferes, stated that “this ceremony covers the three things we are doing and have to do that are important for the future of this house”: the promotion of the teaching staff in order to “structure scientifically the School”, the hiring of new teachers who “are the future of the Faculty” and the hiring of researchers, who ”will now also be more closely linked to the School". The Dean also stated that regardless of the model followed in the future at a national level for the hiring of reserchers, the university "will certainly not cease to have researchers".
The Department of Life Sciences has a new full professor, José Paulo Nunes de Sousa Sampaio and a new associate professor, Luís Jaime Gomes Ferreira da Silva Mota. The Department of Materials Science will have as associate professor Rui Alberto Garção Barreira do Nascimento Igreja and as assistant researcher Emanuel Abreu Antunes Carlos. The Department of Applied Social Sciences has three new associate professors: Duarte Miguel Machado Carneiro de Brito, Paula Cristina Gonçalves Dias Urze and Joaquim Amaro Graça Pires Faia e Pina Catalão Lopes. The Department Earth Sciences now has two more associate professors, Maria Manuela Malhado Simões Ribeiro and Joaquim António dos Reis Silva Simão. As well as the Department of Chemistry which now has Mário Emanuel Campos de Sousa Diniz and Pedro António de Brito Tavares as associate professors and Filipa Margarida Barradas de Morais Marcelo as assistant researcher. The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering has a new assistant professor, Hugo Emanuel Charrinho da Costa Biscaia. The Department of Mathematics has Marta Isabel Belchior Lopes as assistant researcher.
